As we all know, kids always need special attention in every walk of life. Although they are generally curious about new things, sometimes it becomes very difficult to get them to adjust somewhere new. And, shifting to a new place maybe one of the most difficult tasks of them all! So let’s see what can be done to make shifting smooth and comfortable for them.

Family discussion– This should be a regular practice, it brings the family closer and enhances the understanding between members. What can be better than dinnertime for a casual or intense conversation? Try to start a discussion about the new home in between the daily casual chitchat.

Involve them in the selection– Let kids come with you when you are going to see the house; ask them about the interesting things they found in that house. And when you finalise a house, tell them that you have considered their opinion in choosing.

Talk about the date– Start with the most interesting thing about the new place; this will tickle the excitement in them. Tell them the date of shifting and make them curious about packing.

Recall memories– While packing, talk about the stuff, what you should take to new house and what you should get rid of. Have an interesting discussion about the moments connected with the things. Involve them completely and you will also enjoy along the way.

Don’t panic– Most importantly, if you are facing any difficulty in packing and shifting, try to manage it calmly, because, if you panic, the kids can never make themselves comfortable with it.

Finally make them move– Introduce them to their new room, the neighbourhood and playground too. If they have to join a new school then your responsibility increases towards them. You will have to make them understand that their new school is much better than the old one and keep their excitement mounted about making new friends.

Know that they are all up for it; the whole family is good to go. Enjoy your new home!
